You may encounter an error message containing accu-chek error messages. Now there are a few steps you can take to fix this problem, so we will discuss them shortly. “E-3” on the actual display means that the blood glucose level may be extremely high, or it may be a meter or test strip error. The following instructions are intended to help you understand what to do: If your test result is what you expected, contact your health authority immediately.
Your product may display the wrong logo for various reasons, such as the fact that the battery is cheaper. If you encounter an error message, the following images and description should help you determine the legitimate reason for the display.
If the multimeter does not turn on or shows a certain blank screen, it is due to one of the following reasons:
- The battery is empty – you need to insert a new one.
- Display damaged – contact Accu-Chek Support
- Faulty drive – contact Accu-Chek Support
- Extreme temperatures: You should set your multimeter to a much more moderate range.
If you see 3 dashes or dashes all over the screen, it means that the counter is not currently encoded or the code is not normally inserted. Be sure to turn off the player and make sure that the encryption key is inserted in the rightStrongly. If this does not solve the problem, please contact Accu-Chek Support.
The power icon indicates that the battery is normally low. Change the battery promptly. Read this article to learn more about battery replacement.

I would say “E-3” means you probably have very high blood sugar or a test strip error. The following instructions should show you what you can do:
- If your test result matches that of your clients, contact a qualified healthcare professional immediately.
- If the test result does not match how you feel, repeat the test and refer to Chapter 4 “Unusual Blood Glucose Test Results” in your personal record.
- If the E-3 code on your blood glucose test is still visible, your good blood glucose result may be very high and exceed the system’s hardware range. Contact your professional health service immediately.
- If the result of the second test does not match how you feel, do an absolute checknew test using a control path and a new test strip.
- If these control results are within the generally accepted range, check that the test therapy is correct and repeat the blood glucose test with a new test strip.
- If one of our control results is out of range, see Chapter 2, Understanding Out of Range Control Results.
“E-4” on your screen means that not enough blood was drawn from the entire test strip to perform the test, or that only control solution was drawn or could be applied after the test had started.
